چکیده

Deformable components such as sandwich structures possess promising properties for use in protection systems. Detailed studies on energy absorption and fluid–structure interaction effects are necessary the application of deformable blast resistant design. In this paper, an existing shock tube facility has been extended with a transparent section to observe measure fluid flow structural response during transient dynamic loading. The extension was instrumented pressure sensors load cells force transmitted through component testing. design allows optical measurement techniques. Here, high-speed cameras were used both digital image correlation background-oriented schlieren imaging. Tests free-standing plates performed. A strong dependency observed between plate mass, thus velocity plates, measured upstream downstream components. tests simulated one-dimensional numerical model compressible interaction. accurately reproduced displacements experimentally. Experimental and numerical investigation of carbon fibersandwich panels subjected to blast loading

The objective of this paper is to investigate the structural response of carbon fiber sandwich panels subjected to blast loading through an integrated experimental and numerical approach. A total of nine experiments, corresponding to three different blast intensity levels were conducted in the 28-inch square shock tube apparatus. Computational models were developed to capture the experimental d...

Numerical and Experimental Investigations on the Behavior of Steel-reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Eccentric Loading

Steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are classified as composite columns, became the most widely used in recent years; because of their extensive advantages over the reinforced concrete and the steel columns. In this paper, the ductility index and its influential factors were explored to investigate the behavior of SRC columns. A straightforward approach was then proposed by establish...

Blast Loading and Blast Effects on Structures – An Overview

The use of vehicle bombs to attack city centers has been a feature of campaigns by terrorist organizations around the world. A bomb explosion within or immediately nearby a building can cause catastrophic damage on the building's external and internal structural frames, collapsing of walls, blowing out of large expanses of windows, and shutting down of critical life-safety systems. Loss of life...

Effect of Corner Bluntness on Energy Absorbing Capability of Non-circular Metallic Tubes Subjected to Axial Impact

The energy absorbing capability is one of the most important aspects of crushing behavior of a structure subjected to axial impact. In this paper, a simple practical method is introduced to enhance the crushing behavior of this kind of structure. The axial impact of metallic energy absorbing thin-walled tubes with special shaped cross-section is simulated using LS-DYNA software. The effect of c...
